Spotlight: Abilitech Medical develops device for people suffering weakness or injury

Imagine waking up and not being able to turn off your alarm. Or getting out of bed and not being able to brush your teeth, drink your coffee or hug a loved one.

Worse yet for a Minnesotan perhaps, picture a mosquito landing on your nose but being unable to brush it off. What would you do? How frustrating would that be?

Angie Conley, founder and CEO of Abilitech Medical, says the St. Paul-based medical device startup has the solution in the form of a wearable device the company plans to launch commercially next year.

The device — the Abilitech Assist — helps patients with muscle weakness or injury use their arms.
